Cold Plunge in a Garage: Drainage, Power, Heat and Floor Load

A practical planning checklist before putting a cold plunge in a residential garage.

A garage solves weather exposure but introduces four constraints: drainage, electrical supply, condenser heat rejection and filled weight.

Plan the wet path before delivery

Decide where drained water will go and how you will handle spills. Avoid creating a path where water can reach receptacles, extension connections or stored chemicals.

Give the chiller real airflow

A closed garage can become materially warmer while a chiller is rejecting heat. Keep the condenser clear and avoid pushing the hot exhaust directly toward the tub intake side.

Filled weight is the number that matters

Cold-plunge tubs often weigh many times more when filled. Manufacturer data puts the Ice Barrel 300 around 700 lb full and the Plunge All-In above 1,100 lb full. Add the user and accessories when evaluating the support surface.
